Prepared from reconciled records

BAS prepared properly, before it reaches your agent.

GST coded consistently, activity statements built from reconciled accounts, and the supporting workpapers your registered BAS or tax agent needs in order to lodge with confidence — rather than a spreadsheet assembled the week it falls due.

What's included

What our BAS and compliance support covers.

The statement itself is the last step. Most of the work is making sure the records underneath it are right.

01

GST coding review

Transactions reviewed against their GST treatment, with the common problem areas looked at rather than assumed.

02

Activity statement preparation

Activity statements prepared from reconciled records, ready for lodgement by your registered BAS or tax agent.

03

PAYG withholding

Withholding figures agreed back to payroll, so what is reported matches what was actually withheld.

04

Reconciliation workpapers

Workpapers reconciling the statement back to the ledger, so figures can be explained months later.

05

Liaison with your agent

We work directly with your registered BAS or tax agent, providing the detail they ask for.

06

Record keeping

Source documents organised and retained against each period, so supporting evidence exists if asked for.

Lodgement of activity statements, and advice on how a particular transaction should be treated, rests with your registered BAS or tax agent. Our role is preparation and record quality: reconciled accounts, consistent coding, and workpapers that stand up to review. Where something looks unclear, we raise it with your agent rather than form a view ourselves.

Why it goes wrong

A BAS is only as good as the records behind it.

Most activity statement problems are not errors in the statement. They are coding decisions made months earlier, unreconciled accounts, or a period that was never properly closed — all of which surface at the worst possible moment.

Because we also maintain the underlying records, the statement is prepared from accounts that have already been reconciled and reviewed. There is no scramble at quarter end, and no gap between what the ledger says and what gets reported.

Who it's for

For businesses where quarter end has become a scramble.

The pressure is rarely the statement itself. It is the state of the records when the deadline arrives.

Behind on lodgement

Statements are late or still outstanding

Once one period slips the next is harder, because the records were never closed. We bring the underlying accounts current so your agent has something to work from.

Uncertain coding

Nobody is confident the GST treatment is right

Coding set up years ago, applied by habit since. We review how transactions are being treated and document the rules so the same answer is reached every period.

Under review

You have been asked to substantiate something

If figures need supporting after the fact, the work is reconstructing the trail. We build the workpapers as part of the normal cycle so that trail already exists.

How it works

Getting a period ready for lodgement.

The same sequence every period, so the quarter stops being an event.

01

Review the current position

We look at the last few lodged periods, how transactions are currently coded, and what reconciliation exists, so we know what has to be corrected before anything else.

02

Close the period properly

Accounts reconciled, coding reviewed against documented rules, and the workpapers built as the period closes rather than at the deadline.

03

Hand over for lodgement

The statement and its supporting detail go to your registered BAS or tax agent, and we deal with their questions directly.

Chartered Accountant oversight

Compliance is a by-product of good records.

Businesses that find compliance stressful usually do not have a compliance problem. They have a record-keeping problem that only becomes visible when a deadline arrives and the numbers have to be defended.

Our approach is to fix the cause. Reconciled accounts, documented coding, and a closed period produce an activity statement almost as a by-product — and give your registered agent something they can lodge without having to reconstruct it first.

01Do you lodge our activity statements?

We prepare the activity statement and the records and workpapers behind it. Review and lodgement are carried out by your registered BAS or tax agent, and we work with them directly through the process.

02We are behind on several periods. Can you help?

Yes. Historical clean-up work is part of what we do. We bring the underlying records up to date period by period so your agent has something complete to lodge, and tell you up front what that is likely to involve.

03Can you tell us how a particular transaction should be treated?

Where a transaction turns on interpretation, that is a question for your registered BAS or tax agent, and we will raise it with them. What we can do is make sure the position reached is then applied consistently every period and documented so it does not drift.

04Do we need to change accountants to use you for this?

No. We work as an extension of your existing arrangements. Many clients keep their accountant or tax agent exactly as they are and use us for the preparation and record quality underneath.

05What does this cost?

Our fees are based on the volume and complexity of the work, including transaction volumes, the number of entities, reporting frequency and the condition of the existing records. Ongoing engagements are generally provided for an agreed monthly fee, while historical clean-ups are quoted separately following an initial review.

Stop dreading the end of the quarter.

Tell us how your activity statements are prepared today, who lodges them and where things currently stand. We will review the position and set out what we would take on.
